I Lost Five Pounds!
Posted by Jeremiah under Results
Since I’ve started cutting out dairy, I’ve lost five pounds. Five pounds is a lot when you’re not that far away from your goal weight. It is also a big deal to me because, before I started this diet, I had been trying to lose weight for several months. I was working out several times a week and trying to generally eat healthy, but I lost nothing. Not a single pound. It is incredibly frustrating to put in such an effort and not see any change. In case you are curious, I weigh myself everyday, but take a weekly average and rely on that.
Even so, body weight is not the best way to measure progress. It still feels good to lose a few pounds nonetheless. Today, I ordered a pair of body fat calipers which should arrive soon. It seems like a pretty cheap solution and I can’t wait to start using it. I think measuring body fat is going to be a much more effective approach to tracking progress.

Nice one. How much dairy were you consuming before?

I would say a normal amount: about two to three servings a day, although I just read an article linked on your website, “Nutrition for Newbies,” that made me wonder. One thing it talked about is how consumed levels of fruit, vegetables, and dairy are usually much lower than perceived levels.
Anyways, thanks for the referral, Scott.

If you do don’t already, you should read Art de Vany’s blog on evolutionary fitness and diet.

Thanks for suggesting it. I just checked out his blog and it looks quite interesting. I’ll have to make a post about his blog, since it relates quite closely to this one.
