Here’s a question you probably ask yourself everyday:
What should I eat?
It seems like a simple question that would have a simple answer, yet there are dozens of new diets that suggest you should eat vastly different foods. Scientific research is constantly released that seems to contradict our basic understanding of what to eat. What exactly is the ideal diet for a human being? I’d like to find out…
My name is Jeremiah. I’m a college student. I’ve never been a health nut, but something has been bothering me for several years: I’m at least thirty fifteen pounds overweight. I feel like a fairly active person. I lift weights. I mountain bike and play racquetball as often as I can. I eat just like a typical person…
Which may be the exact problem.
Food affects our self image, health, longevity, mood, and energy, so why do we take it on faith that our culture, parents, and friends know what’s right for us? Do we do that with other areas of our lives? I certainly don’t. Therefore, I’ve decided to try something different for the next year. A few friends of mine recently started a vegetarian diet, which is partially what inspired me. However, I don’t think vegetarianism is right for me. And a typical American diet is almost the exact opposite, focusing largely on animal products. Thus, the title of this blog. I simply have to acknowledge that fact that humans eat plants and meat: “I’m an Omnivore”.
