An embedded systems project. So who is this crazy guy, anyways?

I am a senior at NCSU majoring in ECE. My major is great, but I do the best I can to avoid English classes. I love it here. College is a blast and it has some interesting implications concerning health and nutrition. As always, I am torturing myself over the question of whether or not to go to graduate school.

A bulletin board I made when I was an RA. The stencil was actually stolen.Work is, at the very least, character-building, so it might be enlightening to explain some of the jobs I’ve held. I worked as a dishwasher for a year where I made little over minimum wage. I was a webscripter for my department’s website where I worked on some neat applications and honed my internet skillz. I worked as a bus monitor where I carried infants around and read children’s books in Spanish on my downtime. I’m a pretty introverted person, but I was a Resident Assistant for three semesters, which means I’ve spent a lot more time on campus than most people.

Dance Dance RevolutionThe recent developments in my life are as follows: I became engaged to my beautiful fiancee Nicole, turned 21, moved into an apartment for the first time, and got a driver’s license to reflect the latter two (and also to get my signature changed from the previously incorrect “Mae Hardy”, which, by the way, was not noticed in an entire year by cashiers, bank tellers, or even DMV employees). I also love rambling.

Sometimes, I tell people that I’m addicted to new hobbies. Right now I’m obsessed with disc golf, mountain biking, nerf modding, game development, Go, gardening, dance dance revolution, parkour, urban exploration, geocaching, hiking, racquetball, film making, programming, and spraypainting. Lately, I haven’t been able to stop reading nonfiction books, many of which are forcing me to ask the question: what the hell are you going to do for the rest of your life? I think this blog is one reaction to that question.
